To attend to, to help, to promote, to minister to, to care for, to nurture, to encourage, to make easy for, etc.
Serving is basicly making sure that the leaders basic needs are met emotionally (encouragement), spiritually (praying for them and ministering to them), mentally (perhaps sharing information, but really making sure their mind is freed up so they can focus on their role in ministry), physically (food, water, etc.), so that they can give their ministry assignment their full attention.

3.What's the formal definition of serve?
I believe that there is no formal definition of the word "serve." there are however, implications to it. SERVE is not for one self's gain but for the satisfaction of the person being served. SERVE is a realization that the person being served deserves what is best, that any shortcoming is a reflection of how the service was rendered. SERVE is an act not a mere term.
